Biotech conference sponsorship: give every line in the budget one job

Biotech conference sponsorship is easiest to defend at budget review when each event in the plan has a single, measurable job. Brand presence, deal-stage partnering and qualified buyer meetings are different jobs, and they rarely come from the same event.

Most life-science vendors build their year from three event types. The table below sets out what each type buys a sponsor, where the money tends to leak, and where a focused oncology summit series such as ImmunoMark fits. Use it to decide which events carry your 2027 brand spend and which carry your pipeline target.

Event typeWhat it buys a sponsorWhere budget leaksRole in a 2027 plan
Large scientific congressCategory presence and visibility across many therapy areasYour booth competes with hundreds of others; most passers-by are outside your segmentBrand line. Keep it if your market expects to see you there
Partnering eventDeal-stage meetings with BD and licensing teamsThe scientists and lab budget-holders who specify tools and services are often not in the roomLicensing and alliance line, not tools or services sales
Focused summit (ImmunoMark)A defined oncology audience, a speaking slot and pre-booked 1:1 meetings with buyers you chooseSmaller headcount, so audience fit has to be checked before you commitPipeline line. Judge it on meetings held and opportunities opened

The same logic applies to pharma conference sponsorship more broadly: a large event is rarely wasted, but it is rarely where a services or tools vendor wins a new oncology programme. The pipeline line is where a smaller, specialist room tends to earn its cost back.

The 2027 calendar

Where ImmunoMark sits among biotech conferences 2027

ImmunoMark is an oncology-only summit organised by Convolign Business Consulting, run as two parallel streams: Next-Gen Immuno-Oncology (NGIO) and Biomarkers & Companion Diagnostics. In 2027 it runs three times, which lets you place the spend in the quarter and market that suit your plan.

San Diego · Q1

  • 10–11 February 2027
  • Launch edition, 300+ senior attendees expected
  • West Coast biotech and diagnostics teams

London · Q1

  • 3–4 March 2027
  • 2nd annual, 400+ target attendees
  • 60% UK & Ireland, 40% rest of Europe

Boston · Q2

  • June 2027
  • Ask us for the latest on this edition

If you are mapping pharma conferences 2027 by quarter, that gives you two markets in the first quarter, three weeks apart, and a June date in Boston. The London 2026 edition gives you a baseline to plan against:

300+attendees at London 2026
100+companies represented
70%senior decision-makers
15–25meetings per sponsor

The audience mix in the prospectus is 55–60% biotech and pharma, 10–15% academic, 5–10% clinicians and about 5% government, regulatory and industry bodies. By seniority, 45–50% are senior leadership (executives, directors and heads). Companies that took part in London 2026 included GSK, Roche, Merck, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol Myers Squibb and Incyte.

Checklist

Seven checks before you sponsor a biotech event

Run these before any 2027 commitment, ImmunoMark or otherwise. They turn an event line into a number your finance team can test after the event.

  1. Name the jobDecide whether this event is brand, partnering or pipeline. One job per event keeps the post-event review honest.
  2. Write the buyer list firstList the roles and company types your team needs to meet. If the organiser cannot show you that audience, the event is a brand line at best.
  3. Check sector and seniority splitsAsk for the breakdown by sector and seniority, not a headline attendee count. For ImmunoMark, both are in the prospectus.
  4. Set a meeting target per editionPre-scheduled 20-minute meetings are part of the package: 15 for Headline, 10 for Platinum, 6 for Gold, or 3 to 10 with the Exclusive 1:1 Meetings package.
  5. Pick the stream that matches your buyersPlatinum, Gold and Silver sponsors choose NGIO or Biomarkers & Companion Diagnostics for their talk, so your slot lands in front of the right half of the room.
  6. Book the pre-event work into your planThe full delegate list and profiles arrive 10 days before the event. Your team selects meetings from it and can use the wishlist to flag priority contacts.
  7. Define the follow-up before you travelEvery tier includes the delegate list with contact details and post-event branding. Plan the follow-up sequence now so the cost per qualified conversation can be measured.
Packages

Which packages fit a portfolio budget

Packages are the same at every edition, so you can anchor one edition and test another without relearning the offer. Prices are in the prospectus, which we send on request.

Gold

The anchor package for the edition closest to your main market. It combines a talk, a booth and pre-booked meetings, which covers brand and pipeline in one line.

  • 30-minute talk on Day 2, pre-lunch, in your chosen stream
  • 10 x 6 ft booth

Second edition

Exclusive 1:1 Meetings

A lower-commitment way to test a second market. No booth to ship, just meetings with delegates your team selects.

  • 2–4 delegate passes
  • Drinks reception passes

Multi-edition programmes

Three ways to spread one life science conference sponsorship budget

A sponsorship budget works best as a programme rather than a series of one-off bets. These are the patterns we see vendors plan around.

One market, full weight

All spend on the edition where your accounts are. Platinum or Gold, plus a branding item such as the drinks reception, which includes a 5-minute welcome speech.

Europe and the US West Coast in Q1

Gold at your priority edition and Exclusive 1:1 Meetings at the other. San Diego and London sit three weeks apart, so one campaign and one set of materials can cover both.

A three-edition year

San Diego in February, London in March and Boston in June. Use the first two to build a meeting list and the June date to follow up with US accounts.

For a wider view of how oncology sponsorship tiers compare, see oncology conference sponsorship. If your budget is booth-first, the exhibitor packages page covers the stand and meeting add-ons. Frequently asked questions

How should we split a 2027 event budget between large congresses and a focused summit?

Give each event one job. Large congresses usually carry brand presence; a focused summit such as ImmunoMark carries pipeline, judged on meetings held and opportunities opened. Many vendors keep one congress for visibility and move pipeline spend to events where they can pre-book meetings with named buyers.

Can we sponsor more than one ImmunoMark edition in 2027?

Yes. San Diego runs on 10–11 February, London on 3–4 March and Boston in June 2027. Packages are the same at every edition, so a common pattern is a Gold or Platinum package at your priority edition and an Exclusive 1:1 Meetings package at a second. Tell us your plan and we will confirm availability.

Which package gives the most meetings for a limited budget?

If meetings are the main goal, the Exclusive 1:1 Meetings package offers 3, 5, 7 or 10 pre-arranged 20-minute meetings with 2–4 passes and no booth. Gold adds a 30-minute talk and a booth with 6 meetings. Prices are in the prospectus, which we send on request.

What evidence can we show finance before committing?

The London 2026 post-show report: 300+ attendees from 100+ companies, 70% senior decision-makers, 200+ meetings conducted and 15–25 meetings per sponsor. The prospectus also gives the audience split by sector and seniority.

When do we need to decide to make the most of the package?

Earlier is better for speaking slots, which are limited per stream, and the Headline package is exclusive to one company per edition. Meeting selection itself happens later: the full delegate list and profiles are sent 10 days before the event.
