Most biotech companies could fill every week of 2027 with a conference; very few can afford to. The question for BD, marketing and scientific leads is not which biotech conferences exist, but which ones put you in front of the people you need to meet, at a cost you can defend after the event.
This list covers 40 biotech and life science conferences in 2027 across the US, Europe and Asia. For each one we give the dates, city, type of event, who it suits and a plain-language note on what sponsoring or exhibiting there involves.

February is when the West Coast IO and biomarker community meets. Our immuno-oncology and biomarker conference in San Diego on 10–11 February sits two weeks after SLAS in the same city, and the San Diego biotech events guide lists other meetings worth combining. In Europe, the immuno-oncology conference in London on 3–4 March falls in the same week as AGBT in Orlando, so tools companies with both genomics and IO customers usually split their team.

April is the European partnering month. BIO-Europe Spring and LSX Investival Europe run back to back in Lyon, which makes it efficient for BD teams to combine licensing meetings with investor conversations. June is where budgets get stretched. ASCO and BIO overlap, Jefferies usually runs in New York in the same fortnight, and ESHG is in Rotterdam the following weekend. Decide early which of these needs a booth and which only needs a meetings team. July to September 2027: diagnostics, Asia and ESMO

July and August are quieter, which makes them the right time to finalise next year’s sponsorships. ADLM is the one big summer meeting, and diagnostics companies should plan around it. ESMO returns to September in 2027, so European medical affairs plans need to allow for an earlier date than in 2026. How to pick the right biotech conferences for your budget
Forty events is far more than any team can cover well. The companies that get the best return pick a small number and do them properly. Four questions narrow the list quickly:
- Are your buyers actually there? Ask the organiser for the attendee mix by function and seniority, not just total headcount. A very large congress with a few hundred of your buyers scattered across it is often worse value than a focused meeting where most of the room is relevant.
- Can you meet them, not just be seen? Pre-arranged 1:1s or a working partnering system turn a sponsorship into a pipeline. Branding alone rarely does.
- Does the timing fit your sales cycle? Q1 and Q2 events are where annual budgets and vendor choices are made, so a February or March meeting often lands at the right moment.
- Can you cluster trips? January in San Francisco and San Diego, April in Lyon and Basel, May and June in Boston, and November in Europe each let one team cover several events.
A practical structure is two to four anchor events you attend, two to four focused meetings you sponsor with 1:1s built in, and a watch list. If your buyers are IO, biomarker and CDx teams
For diagnostics, tools, CRO and platform companies selling into immuno-oncology, the big congresses show where the science is heading, but they seldom give you enough time with the people who choose assays and partners. That group is small: translational medicine leads, biomarker heads, CDx strategy leads and the BD teams who structure pharma and diagnostics co-development partnerships.
