Boston Biotech & Life Sciences Events 2027: Complete Guide

Last updated: October 2026. Dates were checked on organisers’ own websites in October 2026. Where a 2027 edition has not been announced, we say “dates TBC”.

Boston is still the densest life sciences cluster in the world, and its meeting calendar shows it. Between April and October 2027 the city hosts large technical congresses on biologics, protein engineering, bioprocessing and research data, alongside investor partnering, policy meetings and focused immuno-oncology events.

The anchor of the Boston year is Biotech Week Boston in September, built around BioProcess International at the Hynes Convention Center. But much of the most useful scientific and commercial contact happens in the spring, when the Seaport hotels and convention centres fill with protein engineers, data scientists and translational teams.

This guide lists the main Boston biotech and life sciences events for 2027, explains who each one suits, and adds a section for sponsors and exhibitors on why vendors keep choosing Boston meetings.

Key takeaways

  • Biotech Week Boston 2027, anchored by BioProcess International, runs 20โ€“23 September 2027 at the Hynes Convention Center.
  • Spring is the busiest period: MassBio’s State of Possible Conference (8 April), Festival of Biologics USA (13โ€“14 April), PEGS Boston (10โ€“14 May) and Bio-IT World (18โ€“20 May) all fall within six weeks.
  • ImmunoMark Summit Boston (June 2027) is the dedicated immuno-oncology and biomarker meeting on the Boston calendar, with pre-arranged 1:1 meetings.
  • Several recurring events (Fierce Biotech Week, RESI Boston, CAR-TCR Summit, World Medical Innovation Forum) had not published 2027 dates when we checked. We mark these “dates TBC”.
  • The AAI annual meeting, which was in Boston in 2026, moves to Los Angeles for 2027, so it no longer appears in this guide.

Disclosure: this guide is published by ImmunoMark Summit, and our own Boston edition is included in the listings.

How we compiled this list

We included events that have a strong biotech, pharma or diagnostics audience, substantive scientific or partnering content, an established track record, and a Boston location for 2027. We checked every date against the organiser’s own site. If an organiser had not published 2027 dates, we kept recurring Boston events but marked them TBC, and we removed events that are confirmed to be moving away from Boston or that no longer list a 2027 edition.

We do not rank the events. Each serves a different purpose, and the right mix depends on your role, modality and whether you are going to learn, to partner or to sell.

The Boston biotech events in detail

1. MassBio State of Possible Conference

8 April 2027 | Omni Boston Seaport

The annual meeting of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MassBio) is the closest thing the state’s industry has to a State of the Union. It brings together executives, investors, policymakers and patient advocates for a day of keynotes and panels, followed by a networking reception. In 2026 it ran in late March; for 2027 MassBio has moved it to 8 April.

Best for: anyone who needs a read on Massachusetts policy, funding and leadership sentiment, and who wants to be seen in the local ecosystem.

2. Festival of Biologics USA

13โ€“14 April 2027 | Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center

Terrapinn is moving its US biologics meeting to Boston for 2027, at the Seaport convention centre. It is a new name on the Boston calendar, and a useful one for biologics developers who want an April meeting before the May protein engineering events.

Best for: biologics discovery, development and CMC teams, and suppliers serving them.

3. PEGS Boston

10โ€“14 May 2027 | Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport (+ virtual)

PEGS (the Protein Engineering Summit) is Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s flagship biologics meeting. The organiser describes 2,200+ participants, 20 conference tracks and 120+ exhibitors, covering protein and antibody engineering, immunotherapy, peptide drug development, T cell engagers and AI/ML-enabled biologics research. For IO teams, the T cell engager and immunotherapy tracks are where much of the bispecific and engineered cell therapy discussion happens each year.

Best for: antibody engineers, bispecific and ADC developers, and cell therapy scientists.

4. Bio-IT World Conference & Expo

18โ€“20 May 2027 | Hynes Convention Center (+ virtual)

Bio-IT World sits where life sciences, data and technology meet. The organiser lists 3,000+ attendees, 11 conference tracks, 200+ presentations and 150+ exhibitors, plus symposia, technical workshops and an investor conference. Note the venue: for 2027 the organiser lists the Hynes Convention Center rather than the Seaport hotels used in earlier years.

Best for: data science, informatics, AI and research IT teams, and the vendors that sell to them.

5. Fierce Biotech Week

2027 dates TBC

Questex’s Fierce Biotech Week draws senior leaders across drug development, clinical operations, business development and communications. It has moved around the calendar: the 2025 edition ran in October and the 2026 edition in May, both at Encore Boston Harbor in Everett. At the time of writing the organiser had not announced 2027 dates or a venue.

Best for: cross-functional senior leaders who want strategy and partnering content in one place.

6. ImmunoMark Summit Boston

June 2027 | Boston

The East Coast Edition of ImmunoMark Summit, organised by Convolign Business Consulting, is the Boston meeting dedicated to immuno-oncology and biomarker science. It runs two parallel streams, Next-Gen Immuno-Oncology (NGIO) and Biomarkers & Companion Diagnostics (CDx), with keynotes, panels, case studies, pre-arranged 1:1 meetings and a Day 1 drinks reception. It is built for 300+ attendees.

The format is deliberately smaller than the September congresses. The aim is that translational, biomarker, diagnostics and BD people spend their time in meetings they have chosen, not walking a large exhibit hall. Read more about the immuno-oncology conference Boston edition.

Best for: IO and biomarker scientists, CDx and diagnostics teams, translational medicine leads and BD teams at pharma, biotech and tools companies.

7. RESI Boston

September 2027 (dates TBC)

RESI (Redefining Early Stage Investments) from Life Science Nation is built around one-to-one investor partnering. In 2026 it ran on 22โ€“23 September at the Westin Copley Place during Biotech Week Boston, followed by virtual partnering days. 2027 dates had not been published when we checked.

Best for: early-stage founders, BD leads and investors focused on life sciences.

8. CAR-TCR Summit

September 2027 (dates TBC)

Hanson Wade’s CAR-TCR Summit is a long-running meeting on engineered T cell therapies; the 2026 edition was held in Boston’s Seaport in mid-September. The organiser had not confirmed 2027 dates or venue at the time of writing, so check before planning around it.

Best for: CAR-T, TCR-T and in vivo cell therapy developers and their translational teams.

9. Biotech Week Boston and BioProcess International

20โ€“23 September 2027 | Hynes Convention Center

Biotech Week Boston is the city’s largest life sciences week, and BioProcess International (BPI) is its anchor. Informa Connect cites 3,000+ scientists and executives and an exhibit hall of 250+ CDMOs, CROs and suppliers, with content on biologics manufacturing including monoclonal antibodies, vaccines and cell and gene therapies. In 2026, BPI registration also included access to the co-located Cell & Gene Therapy International tracks.

Other meetings have historically clustered around the same week, including RESI Boston and the World Medical Innovation Forum, which makes late September a dense week for meetings and evening events.

Best for: process development, manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams, CDMOs and bioprocess suppliers.

10. World Medical Innovation Forum

2027 dates TBC

Mass General Brigham’s forum brings together health system leaders, clinicians, investors and industry around a different innovation theme each year. The 2026 edition ran on 22โ€“23 September at the Westin Boston Seaport District. 2027 dates had not been announced.

Best for: health system, digital health, medtech and investor audiences.

11. Discovery on Target

18โ€“21 October 2027 | Boston (venue TBC)

Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s discovery meeting closes the Boston year. The organiser cites 1,100+ attendees for the science, technology and people behind drug discovery. The 2026 edition used the Sheraton Boston; the 2027 venue has not been named.

Best for: discovery biologists, medicinal chemists and target validation teams.

What changed since our 2026 guide

  • Removed: IMMUNOLOGY (the AAI annual meeting) moves to Los Angeles for 2027 (30 April to 4 May). The MassBio Legal Affairs Premier Conference and the hubXchange Oligonucleotides & Peptides and AI in Drug Discovery Xchange events had no published 2027 Boston editions when we checked.
  • Added: Festival of Biologics USA, PEGS Boston, CAR-TCR Summit, the World Medical Innovation Forum, Discovery on Target and ImmunoMark Summit Boston.
  • Nearby: the BIO International Convention is in Philadelphia, not Boston, on 7โ€“10 June 2027.

Boston for sponsors: why vendors pick Boston meetings

For diagnostics, tools, CRO and platform companies, the question is less “is Boston a good city?” and more “which Boston meeting puts us in front of the people who sign off on budgets?”. A few facts explain why so many sponsors put Boston at the centre of their US plan.

The buyers are already here

Massachusetts had 113,503 biopharma employees at the end of 2025, according to MassBio’s 2026 Industry Snapshot. That was the first annual fall in more than two decades of tracking, but capital has returned: Massachusetts companies raised $3.45 billion in venture funding in the first half of 2026, up 25% year on year, and the state took around 9% of all NIH funding in 2025. For a vendor, that means a large local base of R&D, translational and clinical decision-makers who can attend a Boston meeting without flying.

Kendall Square and the Seaport

Two districts do most of the work. Kendall Square in Cambridge sits next to MIT and the Broad Institute and houses research sites for large pharma and a deep bench of venture-backed biotechs. Takeda, for example, is consolidating its Cambridge operations into a new Kendall Square R&D campus. Across the river, the Seaport has become the city’s meeting district: the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, the Westin Boston Seaport District and the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center host many of the events above, and Vertex has its headquarters on the waterfront. The Longwood Medical Area, home to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, adds the clinical and academic oncology audience.

What this means for event choice

  • Big congresses buy reach. Biotech Week Boston, Bio-IT World and PEGS put you in halls with thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors. They suit brand building and broad lead capture, but competition for attention is intense.
  • Focused meetings buy access. Smaller, theme-specific events with pre-arranged meetings suit companies selling into a defined buyer group, such as biomarker, CDx or translational teams.
  • Timing matters. Spring meetings fall early enough in the budget year for pilots and partnerships to be scoped; the September cluster is crowded, so meetings need to be booked well in advance.
  • Measure meetings, not footfall. Our ROI guide for sponsoring ImmunoMark Boston sets out how to model return per meeting, and our 10-point scorecard for choosing biotech conferences to sponsor helps compare events.

As a benchmark for the focused format, ImmunoMark Summit London 2026 delivered 200+ meetings across 300+ attendees from 100+ companies, with sponsors averaging 15โ€“25 meetings each and 70% of attendees senior decision-makers. If your company wants to meet the Boston IO and biomarker audience, see the ImmunoMark Boston sponsorship opportunities.

How to choose the right Boston events for you

With a dozen meetings on the calendar, the useful question is which ones are worth your time and budget.

  • Start from your role. A discovery scientist will get more from Discovery on Target or PEGS; a process engineer from BioProcess International; a biomarker or CDx lead from ImmunoMark Boston. Check the session tracks, not just the event name.
  • Decide whether you are learning or dealing. Some events are built for structured sessions. Others, such as RESI and ImmunoMark, are built around one-to-one meetings. Know which mode you need.
  • Spring and autumn feel different. The spring meetings lean towards science, engineering and data. The September cluster around Biotech Week Boston leans towards manufacturing, partnering and investment.
  • Look beyond Boston. For the wider year, see our biotech conferences guide and the oncology conferences 2027 calendar.

Making the most of any Boston conference

Attending is only half the job. A few habits make a real difference to what you take home.

Book meetings before you travel. Use the partnering tools that events such as RESI, BioProcess International and ImmunoMark provide. Meetings booked two to three weeks ahead are more substantive than ones arranged on the floor.

Plan around geography. The Hynes is in Back Bay, the Seaport venues are across the city and Kendall Square is across the river. If you are combining a conference with site visits in Cambridge or the Longwood Medical Area, build in travel time.

Set a clear goal for each day. Whether it is five specific conversations, two sessions or a shortlist of vendors to evaluate, a frame for the day stops you drifting.

Follow up within 48 hours. The contacts that turn into partnerships are almost always the ones where someone followed up quickly and specifically.
