Why sponsor a companion diagnostics conference in San Diego

ImmunoMark San Diego is a companion diagnostics conference in San Diego built around one commercial question: which diagnostics partner does a drug program choose, and when? The launch edition’s prospectus tagline says it plainly: “Driving the Future of Companion Diagnostics from Discovery to Commercial Adoption”.

For a CDx developer, liquid biopsy company, central lab or FDA regulatory consultancy, that is a partnering brief, not a booth-traffic brief. A US companion diagnostic is normally expected to reach approval at the same time as its therapy, usually through a PMA, which means pharma teams lock in diagnostics partners long before pivotal trials read out. The window to be considered is early and narrow.

The rules around lab-developed tests have also shifted. After a federal court vacated the FDA’s LDT rule in March 2025, pharma teams are again weighing central-lab, LDT-based approaches against kit-based CDx strategies program by program. That makes 2027 a year when both kit manufacturers and lab service providers have something new to say to the same buyers.

Buyer roles

Who decides on a CDx partner, and what each role is evaluating

The San Diego speaker faculty is a good map of the pharma functions involved in a CDx decision. Each one asks a different question of a diagnostics partner.

Role on the San Diego facultyWhat they are evaluating in a partner
Global Director of Regulatory Affairs (Precision Medicine), Gilead SciencesYour FDA submission track record, bridging study experience and readiness for contemporaneous approval
Senior Director, Precision Medicine Strategy, RegeneronPlatform fit for the biomarker, global test availability and how your timelines line up with the clinical plan
Director, Biomarker and Translational Sciences, Johnson & JohnsonAnalytical validation and the path from clinical trial assay to final CDx
U.S. Market Access Strategy Lead, AstraZenecaCoverage, reimbursement and whether patients can actually get the test after launch
Director, Digital Pathology and Image Analysis Group, PfizerScoring reproducibility and validation of image-based and algorithm-assisted readouts

Speakers are a guide to the functions in the room, not a list of guaranteed meetings. Your 1:1 meetings are chosen from the full delegate list, which lets you target these functions across every company that comes.

Real Stream 2 sessions

CDx conference San Diego sessions that set up your partnering conversations

Stream 2 covers the full CDx lifecycle, from predictive biomarker evidence to regulation and reimbursement. These sessions put your buyers in the right frame of mind before they meet you.

  • Day 1 · Stream 2Keynote: Transforming Precision Medicine Through Biomarkers, Companion Diagnostics and Clinical Innovation
  • Day 1 · Stream 2The Growing Role of Liquid Biopsy and Minimal Residual Disease Monitoring in Personalized Cancer Care (Hadly Clark, FasterCures, Milken Institute)
  • Day 1 · Stream 2Market Access and Reimbursement Strategies for Companion Diagnostics in Precision Oncology
  • Day 1 · Stream 2Building Successful Pharma–Biotech–Diagnostic Partnerships to Accelerate Precision Medicine
  • Day 2 · Stream 2Keynote: The Future of Precision Medicine and Companion Diagnostics
  • Day 2 · Stream 2Clinical Utility of Predictive Biomarkers in Personalized Oncology
  • Day 2 · Stream 2Global Regulatory Strategies for Companion Diagnostics and Precision Medicine

For liquid biopsy companies, the MRD session makes this a practical liquid biopsy conference in San Diego without a separate event; the liquid biopsy and spatial sponsor page compares that content across editions. Because the program runs from biomarker evidence to adoption, it also works as a translational oncology conference in San Diego for teams that sell both assay development and clinical testing. For a refresher on the US pathway your buyers will be discussing, see our step-by-step guide to FDA companion diagnostic approval.

How meetings work

Booking 1:1 meetings at a companion diagnostics summit in 2027

Pre-scheduled meetings are the core of a CDx sponsorship. Here is how to run them for a partnering audience.

  1. Choose a package with meetingsHeadline, Platinum and Gold include pre-scheduled 1:1s; the Exclusive 1:1 Meetings packages offer 3, 5, 7 or 10 without a booth or talk.
  2. Receive the full delegate list 10 days outYou get every delegate’s profile and choose who you want to meet. Filter by function: regulatory, precision medicine strategy, translational sciences, market access.
  3. Use the wishlist for priority targetsFlag the pharma programs and people that matter most, so your highest-value requests are visible.
  4. Prepare one page per meetingTwenty minutes is enough for one indication, one biomarker and one question. Bring your regulatory status, turnaround data and the evidence that answers that buyer’s role.
  5. Follow up inside the two daysUse the Day 1 drinks reception and the Day 2 regulatory session to continue conversations with people you met in the morning.

Frequently asked questions

We are a central lab, not a kit manufacturer. Is this the right event for us?

Yes. Stream 2 covers the whole CDx lifecycle, including clinical utility, market access and global regulatory strategy, and the delegate profile is weighted to biotech and pharma (55–60%) with 45–50% senior leadership. Central labs use 1:1 meetings to reach the translational and precision medicine teams who decide how trial testing is run.

Will FDA regulatory topics be covered?

Day 2 of Stream 2 includes Global Regulatory Strategies for Companion Diagnostics and Precision Medicine, and Day 1 includes Market Access and Reimbursement Strategies for Companion Diagnostics in Precision Oncology. The speaker faculty includes Gilead Sciences' Global Director of Regulatory Affairs (Precision Medicine).

Can we choose exactly who we meet?

You choose from the full delegate list and profiles, sent 10 days before the event, and can flag priorities with the wishlist feature. Meetings are 20 minutes each and pre-scheduled, so you can build your two days around specific pharma functions.

How does San Diego differ from the London edition for a CDx sponsor?

San Diego (10–11 February 2027) is the US launch edition, where FDA approval, US market access and the US lab landscape frame the conversation. London (3–4 March 2027) is the 2nd annual edition, with 60% of delegates from the UK and Ireland and 40% from the rest of Europe, and its agenda includes a panel on EMA, FDA and MHRA CDx approval pathways.

Can a regulatory consultancy speak without taking a booth?

Speaking slots come with Platinum, Gold and Silver, and each of those includes a 10 x 6 ft booth. If you want meetings without a booth or talk, the Exclusive 1:1 Meetings packages (3, 5, 7 or 10 meetings) are designed for that.
